New York City, NY 10019
(between West 53rd and West 54th streets).

The building was built in 1927 as the Oscar Hammerstein Theater. In the late 1930's CBS moved in making the theater the home for radio shows like the Fred Allen Show and Major Bowes Amateur Hour. Ed Sullivan's first show, Toast of the Town originated from the theater in 1948 after the facility was converted for television. In 1967 Studio 50, then home of all of CBS's live variety shows, was re-christened the Ed Sullivan Theater.
